El 6 de mayo de 2021 varias organizaciones de derechos humanos presentaron una intervención conjunta de terceros en el caso Duarte Agostinho y otros contra Portugal y otros, el primer caso de cambio climático ante el Tribunal Europeo de Derechos Humanos (TEDH).
في السادس من شهر مايو/أيار، قدمّت العديد من منظمات حقوق الإنسان مذكرة مشتركة لطرف ثالث في قضية دوارتي أغوستينو ضد البرتغال وآخرين، وهي القضية الأولى التي تتناول تغيّر المناخ أمام المحكمة الأوروبية لحقوق الإنسان. استند الطرف المتدخّل إلى معايير القانون الدستوري الدولي والإقليمي المقارِنة لتجديد تأكيده إلتزامات الدول الواضحة في مجال حقوق الإنسان التي تملي عليها اعتماد تدابير مناسبة وفعّالة لمعالجة أزمة المناخ وتنفيذها، وذلك عن طريق تخفيض الانبعاثات داخل أراضيها وخارج حدودها الإقليمية.
On May 6th, several human rights organizations submitted a joint third-party intervention in Duarte Agostinho and others v. Portugal and others, the first climate change case before the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). The intervenors drew on international, regional and comparative constitutional law standards to reaffirm States’ clear human rights obligations to adopt and enforce adequate and effective measures to address the climate crisis by reducing emissions within their territories and extraterritorially.
