Provea presentó una acción jurídica a fin de que el Tribunal Supremo de Justicia (TSJ) se pronunciara sobre la inconstitucionalidad de la omisión en que incurrió la Asamblea Nacional (AN), al no establecer un régimen transitorio que regulara el Régimen Prestacional de Empleo cuando promulgó la Ley Orgánica de Sistema de Seguridad Social. Esta omisión implicaba negar el otorgamiento de la prestación de ayuda a los trabajadores que quedaren cesantes o en situación de desempleo.

Entre el 27 de diciembre de 1995 y el 30 de septiembre de 1999, la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos (CIDH) recibió innumerables peticiones de personas jubiladas y de varias organizaciones no gubernamentales en las que se denunciaba la violación de los derechos a un recurso judicial efectivo, al debido proceso legal, a la propiedad, a la seguridad social, a la salud, al bienestar y a la igualdad ante la ley, previstos en la Declaración Americana de Derechos y Deberes del Hombre (DADH) y en la Convención Americana sobre Derechos Humanos (CADH).

Un grupo de personas afiliadas al Instituto Venezolano de los Seguros Sociales (IVSS) que viven con HIV interpusieron una acción de amparo contra dicha institución para que se les garantizara tanto la entrega regular y periódica de los medicamentos de la triterapia como los medicamentos para el tratamiento de las enfermedades oportunistas y la realización y cobertura de los gastos de los exámenes médicos necesarios. Solicitaron, además, que los efectos de la sentencia se extendieran a todos las personas con HIV afiliados al IVSS.

Regulations entitled those on social security benefits to receipt of a winter fuel payment for.  The payment was available to women aged 60 and over and men aged 65 and over. Mr Taylor was 62 and brought a complaint on the basis that the regulation did not comply with the European Union Council Directive on the progressive implementation of the principle of equal treatment for men and women in matters of social security. The High Court referred the interpretation of the Directive to the European Court of Justice (ECJ).

Mrs Zwaan de Wries became unemployed in February 1979 and was granted unemployment benefits until October 1979. But she was denied continued support under the Unemployment Benefits Act (WWV) because she was a married woman and was not the family ‘breadwinner'. Married men could obtain the benefits without the need to prove they were a ‘breadwinner'.

Three brothers (V) lived in Switzerland from 1980 as recognised refugees. In 1987, they were expelled from Switzerland to Czechoslovakia for criminal offences. In September 1991, they illegally re-entered Switzerland.

Twenty deputies of the Latvian Parliament (the Saeima) claimed that certain employers were not paying social insurance premiums into a fund for their employees. The deputies asserted a breach of the constitutional right to social security and Articles 9 and 11 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) since the State had failed to ensure the relevant legislation ensured that premiums were paid by employers.

Los demandantes interpusieron acción de tutela contra varias instituciones estatales por no cumplir con su misión de proteger a la población desplazada y por no dar respuesta efectiva a sus solicitudes en materia de vivienda, acceso a proyectos productivos, atención de salud, educación y ayuda humanitaria.
