Civil Society “Brainstorm” Meeting with Ms. Magdalena Sepúlveda Carmona, UN Independent Expert on Human Rights and Extreme Poverty

ESCR-Net and Social Watch are co-hosting a special civil society "brainstorm" meeting with Ms. Magdalena Sepúlveda Carmona, UN Independent Expert on Human Rights and Extreme Poverty.  The meeting will take place on Friday, October 23 from 4:30 pm- 6:30pm.

Ms. Sepúlveda will present the work of her mandate to date, explore the connections between the economic crisis and extreme poverty, and discuss how the economic crisis can be used as a call on governments to strengthen social protection systems.  This is an opportunity to learn more about the work of this important UN mandate, to strategize on how best to collaborate, and to network. There will also be plenty of time to present your own ideas, experiences and recommendations in building human rights solutions to poverty in a time of global economic crisis.
