Stop funding Bridge Academies and educational experiments on children in Africa!
On Friday, April 21 2017, join AFT, NEA, AFL-CIO, Global Campaign for Education, South African Democratic Teachers Union, Uganda National Teachers' Union, Education International, Kenya National Union of Teachers and Public Services International to tell the World Bank: “Stop funding Bridge Academies and educational experiments on children in Africa!”
The World Bank, in partnership with a group of opportunistic international investors, is undermining the foundation of public education and democracy in many African countries by investing in so-called “low-fee private schools” such as Bridge International Academies.
We are telling the world bank that:
- Africa is not a laboratory for experiments in teaching and learning
- Bridge’s promise of a better education for poor kids is a HOAX
- Bridge’s fees force CRUEL choices on families
- Bridge’s “robot-teachers” approach - inexperienced instructors reading from a computer tablet – is ineffective
