The Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC), monitors the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989) and its optional protocols (http://www2.ohchr.org/english/bodies/crc/sessions.htm). The next CRC session will took place in Geneva - 17 September – 5 October 2007.

he Inter-American Commission on Human Rights will hold its 129th special period of sessions in Paraguay, from September 5 to 7, 2007.

Beginning this year, the Inter-American Commission has modified the format for its sessions. Rather than two three-week sessions annually, the Commission has decided that from now on it will hold three annual sessions of two weeks each. The Commission also plans to hold a special session in the territory of a Member State. The next regular session will be held from from September 5 to 7, 2007, in Paraguay.

The Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination hold its 71st session in Geneva between 30 July and 17 August 2007.

During this period of sessions, the IACHR approved 44 reports on individual cases and petitions. On July 18 and 20, it held 25 hearings related to individual cases and petitions, precautionary measures, and general and specific human rights situations. Fifteen working meetings were also held in which representatives of both parties participated in the context of petitions and cases pending before the Commission.

The United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) holds Sixth Session on Territories, Lands and Natural Resources. Indigenous Participants from all over the World, Human Rights Activists, Government Representatives, United Nations Agencies, Academia and Civil Society groups will come together to share concerns, experiences and information, regarding Indigenous Peoples Issues and Violations.

The Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights will consider the reports submitted by States parties on their compliance of the obligations set by the International Covenant of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.  During its 38th session, the Committee will consider the following State reports: Latvia, Hungary, Finland, Nepal, and Netherlands Antilles.
