Members of the ESCR-Net Women and ESCR Working Group—social movement and NGO leaders—from different regions of the world are eager to exchange lessons with fellow advocates for the rights of women workers. To begin a collective discussion, discussants will share advocacy strategies that they are using to advance women’s economic, social and cultural rights in relation to work, including their struggles for the rights of domestic workers in Trinidad and Tobago, textile workers in Bangladesh’s garment sector and low-wage factory workers in the Philippines.

We invite all of you to join us as we then break out into small groups to discuss and share effective advocacy strategies and lessons to strengthen our collective work for justice and the rights of women workers.

Discussion Leaders:

• Nazma Akter, Awaj Foundation (Bangladesh) and member of APWLD

• Arlyn Duhaylungsod, Defend Job Philippines (Philippines)

• Maria Herminia Graterol, IWRAW-AP (Malaysia)

• Ida Le Blanc, National Union of Domestic Employees - NUDE (TrinidadandTobago)

Other participating Women and ESCR Working Group members: AWID, Bulgarian Gender Research Foundation (Bulgaria), Escuela Nacional Sindical (Colombia), FIDA-Kenya (Kenya)
