The Centre for Legal and Social Studies (CELS), the Centre on Housing Rights and Evictions (COHRE), the Social Rights Advocacy Centre (SRAC) and the International Network for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR-Net) invite you to a dialog on the JUSTICIABILITY OF ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL RIGHTS FROM A COMPARATIVE PERSPECTIVE, to learn and discuss about the trends and challenges of demanding social and economic rights through judicial means in different countries and regions. The event will be hosted by the Human Rights Institute, Columbia Law School.
The event is held within the context of the recently launched ESCR-Net Caselaw Database, a collaborative project that compiles and analyses paradigmatic jurisprudence and other decisions from national courts and international human rights bodies related to economic, social and cultural rights. Among other goals, with the database we aim to encourage discussion of crucial challenges for ESCR advocacy and the use of legal strategies as valid and effective means for claiming economic, social and cultural rights.
