Interamerican Association for Environmental Defense (AIDA)

The Interamerican Association for Environmental Defense (AIDA)’s mission is to strengthen people's ability to guarantee their individual and collective right to a healthy environment, via the development, implementation, and effective enforcement of national and international law.

AIDA works in the context of Climate Change, Freshwater Protection, Marine Protection, and Human Rights and the Environment, using diverse strategies to protect the right to a healthy environment in the hemisphere.

Founded in 1998, AIDA uses the law to protect the environment and communities suffering from environmental harm throughout Latin America. The 35 countries of our hemisphere are united under a common environmental flag - AIDA develops international strategies to address the environmental and human rights challenges of the 21st century.
