Through international campaigns, collaborative research and communications work, TerraJusta accompanies and supports organizations and communities fighting for social, economic and environmental justice, especially those affected by extractive projects in Latin America. Officially launched in early 2020, TerraJusta is based in Bolivia, with staff members in Ireland and the UK. TerraJusta grew out of the work of The Democracy Center, an ESCR-Net member organization, and the current staff spent the best part of a decade working together as part of The Democracy Center team. Currently TerrraJusta is working on several projects and campaigns. These include building communication skills and capacity among representatives of indigenous communities affected by extractive projects in the Southern Peruvian Andes. In addition, TerraJusta is working on strategic corporate research. This project involves developing profiles of the multinational corporations involved in the cases they are accompanying such as Anglo American, Glencore, BHP, and CMC Coal Marketing Company based in Ireland. Also, TerraJusta has been mapping out the solidarity networks that can be leveraged when needed to apply pressure.
