After the 2011 Arab uprisings the IMF signalled change to its longstanding policies to focus more on inclusive growth and social inclusion. The new Bretton Woods Projects report by Mohammed Mossallem analyses IMF policies in four Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries pre and post 2011, finding little substantive change. While the IMF rhetoric may have developed in response to widespread popular demands for domestic reforms, the policies it endorses appear little changed.
