The enxet community of Sawhoyamaxa, one of the "Characters of the Year" in Paraguay

The newspaper Última Hora of Paraguay recognized the exnet community of Sawhoyamaxa as one of the "Characters of the Year 2014" in Paraguay. In the words of the newspaper itself, "were also chosen leaders of the enxet community of Sawhoyamaxa, who managed the restitution of 14,404 acres of ancestral lands in the Chaco, after more than 20 years of complaints to the state."

The  Última Hora's awards "Characters of the Year" are delivered to "people who stood out for their positive action for the country and society." The winners were selected by the editors of the newspaper and received the award at a ceremony held last December 30, 2014 in Asuncion, Paraguay.

During 2014, Sawhoyamaxa achieved a historic victory by winning the legal battle and getting the restitution of their ancestral lands.
