In response to the recent wave of land grabbing and plundering, the concentration of land and water in the hands of a few powerful entities, as well as the growing privatization and commoditization of nature, FIAN International has launched its new publication, "Monitoring Tool based on the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests". In 2012, the United Nations' Committee on World Food Security (CFS) adopted the Voluntary Guidelines on Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries, and Forests (Tenure Guidelines) in regards to national food security. This monitoring tool aims to support social organizations in their efforts to independently monitor whether or not States fulfill their obligations. The tool proposes a list of questions regarding each guideline to facilitate the search for human rights-based indicators. Please note that this resource is currently only available in Spanish. For further information on this monitroing tool, see the press release (in English).
