The Global Platform for the Right to the City releases a statement on core messages for Habitat III

In the context of the preparatory process for the Third United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Human Development (Habitat III, Quito, October 2016), and inspired by World Habitat Day 2015, the Global Platform for the Right to the City has launched a strong call for the inclusion of the Right to the City as an essential component of the New Urban Agenda, the implementation of which must be a responsibility of all actors.

According to the Platform, in order to do so, it is essential to ensure the participation of civil society organizations and local governments - on equal footing with respect to other actors - as key partners in defining and implementing the New Urban Agenda.
