Opportunity: Responsible Data Forum on Human Rights Documentation (Mar 21-22, 2015)

Publish Date:
Tuesday, January 20, 2015

The Responsible Data Forum (RDF) on Human Rights Documentation will bring together human rights defenders, practitioners and researchers to explore the ethical, privacy and security challenges posed by the use of data and new technologies in documenting human rights. The Forum will be a hands-on and collaborative event, focused on developing concrete tools and strategies to address issues such as the de-identification of data; the inclusive and participatory use of technology; verification; and data standards. These issues will be considered through the lens of responsibility, and the potential of new technologies for protecting and promoting human rights.

Members of the Monitoring Working Group—particularly those based in the Asia Pacific region or who are planning to attend RightsCon—are strongly encouraged to apply to participate in the RDF, to share their experiences of using data to document economic, social and cultural rights.
