The National Fisheries Solidarity Movement (NAFSO) of Sri Lanka, together with Internally Displaced People (IDP) of Jaffna, have released the report "The reality of the life of the displaced people in Jaffna District."

Sri Lankan people have experienced the brutality of war over the course of the past three decades and the fallout of the war continues today - the rise of internally displaced people [IDP], families with disappeared members, women-headed families [WHF] after a male breadwinner is lost, people who are disabled, and many more different types of affected communities and individuals living in the country.

Women and children are the often the most severely affected and face many challenges to their survival.  A nation which had lived with dignity and honor has become helpless and frustrated after 6 years of brutal war. The post-war situation was worse than during the war, as the oppressive state mechanisms were so firmly entrenched.
