Thank you to all who attended ESCR-Net's third annual 'Peoples’ Forum on Human Rights and Business' in Nairobi, Kenya from 26-28 October 2015! Over 75 members and allies from all over the world joined together to enthusiastically engage in shared analysis regarding how to strategically advance our collective fight for human rights in the face of corporate human rights abuses.

The Peoples’ Forum is the annual gathering bringing together members of the Corporate Accountability Working Group (CAWG) and partners engaged in various CAWG projects that advance effective strategies to hold corporations and governments accountable for corporate-related human rights violations. This year the Peoples’ Forum was co-hosted by the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC), and built on successful Peoples’ Forums in Bogota (2014) and Bangkok (2013).

Several sessions foregrounded CAWG projects such as the Treaty Initiative, Corporate Capture, Documentation Project. In addition, other sessions focused on issues that are highly relevant to the CAWG membership, including human rights defenders, gender and land in the African context, trade and investment, among others. Bringing together an enormous wealth of experience and powerful ideas, the exchanges that took place at the Forum served to spur the development of our collective vision for the CAWG. At the end of the Peoples' Forum, members of CAWG were reenergized and strongly commited to continued advances - using our diverse skills, experiences and collective strength to work together in bringing an end to corporate human rights abuses.
