Egypt: investment in the face of justice
The Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights issued a new study in Arabic entitled “Investment in the face of justice”. It discusses in detail the effects of bilateral investment agreements and related international arbitration cases brought against the Egyptian government by investors in cases related to social justice, democratic transformation, and state sovereignty. It also tackles the results of conflict between these agreements – which Egypt had signed most of in the 1990s – and any progressive decisions or policies that attempts to achieve some form of social justice.
