Timed to coincide with International Women's Day, EQUIS Justicia Para las Mujeres - an ESCR-Net member from Mexico - recently launched a new campaign advocating for compliance reviews using a gender perspective within law enforcement systems in Mexico. As a strategy to protect women's human rights in accordance with national and international laws, Equis has been presenting Judicial Authorities with a manual produced to accompay the campaign.

This initiative is the result of collaboration with the "Red Mexicana de Jueces y Juezas por la impartición de Justicia con Perspectiva de Género". Realizing the negative implications of the abstract and impersonal nature of the law, this network of judges proposed the development of a tool like the manual at the end of 2014.

Despite being very brief, the manual is a highly important resource. It was first used with the public at the Escuela del Poder Judicial del Estado de México in Toluca, in the context of a panel that brought together both local and federal judges, as well academics.

EQUIS is a feminist human rights organization dedicated to advancing women's human rights and gender equality through advocacy and strategic litigation, both on a national and an international level.
