As you might know, this October (23-27th) will mark the start of the discussion on the content elements of the Treaty. After two consultative sessions in 2015 and 2016, the Inter Governmental Working Group of the UN Human Rights Council will now for the first time enter into officially negotiating the elements of such a treaty. If you haven’t done so, please sign our statement in support of this treaty here.
We continue to advocate and campaign in support of this Treaty, and as one of our activities we are organizing a webinar for all those interested in and supporting the process. At this webinar we’ll share information on the latest developments in Geneva, including updates regarding favorable or opposing positions of states, and what our campaigning opportunities are in the run up and during the Open Ended Inter Governmental Working Group in October, including what national level actions you can take now to push governments to ensure issues such as substantive gender equality and corporate capture are addressed in the treaty.
The time and date of the Treaty Alliance webinar is October 2nd, 4.00-5.30 PM CET. The webinar will be in English, with interpretations to Spanish and French. Let’s make this Treaty a reality by showing international support!
