Comité Ambiental en Defensa de la Vida (Environmental Committee in Defense of Life), an environmental and human rights defenders' movement in Colombia, held a symbolic act on Tuesday, October 2, in front of the Palace of Justice in Bogota, with the purpose of asking the Constitutional Court to uphold the popular consultations concerning projects with environmental impact. The act was part of the closing of the IV Encuentro del Movimiento Nacional Ambiental (Fourth Meeting of the National Environmental Movement), which brought to Bogota more than 100 Colombian civic leaders engaged in efforts to defend their territories from mining projects.

Dressed as miners, environmental and human rights defenders displayed a banner in front of the Palace of Justice that read: "Magistrates captured by corporations."
