During this year’s 47th session of the Human Rights Council, the following members Mihir Mankad(Center for Economic and Social Rights), Debbi Stothard (ALTSEAN-Burma), and Allana Kembabazi (Initiative for Social and Economic Rights) delivered formal interventions on behalf of ESCR-Net.

In their interventions, members urged States to comply with their duties to provide just equitable access to Covid 19 vaccines through international cooperation and support for the TRIPS waiver. Members also called for corporate accountability beyond the voluntary United Nations Guiding Principles and urged States to support a strong international legally binding instrument to regulate corporate power and hold corporate actors accountable for their infringement upon human rights.

Debbies HRC Full intervention

Watch @DebbieStot's from @Altsean intervention at #HRC47, where she disagreed with the UNGPS' voluntary nature. According to her, If given the option to protect #humanrights or not, most States lack the political will to do so & opt-out. #bizhumanrights #humanrights @WGBizHRs pic.twitter.com/uE04jgAnpI
