Consultation of the ESCR-Unit with Civil Society

On April 25, 2014, the ESCR Unit of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) conducted a consultation with civil society organizations from various countries of Latin America. Many ESCR-Net members attended the consultation, held in Bogotá, such as CELS (Argentina), Dejusticia (Colombia), Fundar (Mexico), and Terra de Direitos (Brazil), among others. The consultation was aimed at generating a regional assessment of substantive priorities and drafting a work plan on the subject.

The consultation opened up the possibility of strengthening the principle of indivisibility of human rights from a more democratic and dialogical perspective. This is the second visit by the ESCR Unit. The first was conducted in Buenos Aires on May 9, 2013

The ESCR Unit of the IACHR will conduct ESCR consultations processes in different countries in the region in the coming year.
