Schmid, Evelyne

Evelyne Schmid is Associate Professor at the Center for Comparative, European and International Law of the Faculty of Law, Criminal Justice and Public Administration at the University of Lausanne.
Evelyne Schmid's research interests include public international law, the protection of human rights and the relationship between international law and national law. Since 2018 she has been a member of the SEDI Committee.

She holds a Ph.D. from the Graduate Institute of International Studies and Development  in Geneva, an MA in Law and Diplomacy from Fletcher School, University of Tufts, Massachusetts, and a BA in Relationships. University of Geneva.  Evelyne Schmid has been a researcher and lecturer at the University of Basel and Lecturer in International and European Law at Bangor University in Great Britain.

Previously, Evelyne Schmid also conducted research and teaching assignments at the Max Planck Institute of Comparative Public and International Law in Heidelberg, the University of Giessen, the Free University of Amsterdam at Harvard Law School and professional stays in Lebanon and Bahrain. From TRIAL International, she coordinated the Swiss contribution to the Legal Tools Project of the International Criminal Court. Evelyne Schmid also conducted comparative research for the Truth Commissions Digital Collection of the United States Institute for Peace (USIP). Since 2013, she has been accredited by the Academy of Higher Education in the United Kingdom.

Evelyne Schmid received, among other awards, an Ambizione grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation, a Max-Geldner Foundation Fellowship, a Donald R. MacJannet Fellowship grant and, in 2016, the Christiane-Rajewsky for her book Taking Economic, Social and Cultural Seriously in International Criminal Law (Cambridge Studies in International and Comparative Law, 2015).Schmid is Associate Professor at the Center for Comparative, European and International Law of the Faculty of Law, Criminal Justice and Public Administration at the University of Lausanne.
