On January 18, 2016, the Comisión Mexicana de Defensa y Promoción de los Derechos Humanos (CMDPDH) held the International Forum on the Investigation, Prosecution and Sanction of Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment. Designed for people directly affected by human rights violations, the event provided capacity building on human rights defense and the prevention of violations, as well as an opportunity to share relevant experiences.

Together with human rights experts, participants took part in diverse roundtables and workshops, as well as attending a variety of panel discussions that included judges and academics from Mexico, and other countries in Latin America. The diversity of activities and participants ensured that the Forum constituted an ideal space for deepening knowledge and work related to human rights.

The CMDPDH is a secular, autonomous and independent civil society organization that defends and promotes unconditional respect for human rights with the objective of advancing the development of a social, democratic state in Mexico.
