The International Network for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR-Net) involves over 270 Members in 70 countries, together building “a global movement to make human rights and social justice a reality for all”.
ESCR-Net’s 2016-2018 Board was elected with the participation of over 60 percent of its fellow Members based on principles of the centrality of social movements and gender and regional balance.
Via the System of Solidarity (SOS), ESCR-Net sent a letter to Pakistan to denounce the ongoing detention of Board member, Saeed Baloch, as well as a letter to The Philippines to raise concern about the systematic criminalization of human rights defenders.
ESCR-Net’s Women and ESCR working group will hold a side event on 22 March, at the UN in New York during the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW60) and will launch briefing papers on women’s rights related to land, health and work.
