About

Reclaiming our stories

The project brings together seven grassroots groups from Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe, Asia and Latin America to gather their own data on the impacts of corporate actors on women’s rights to land, housing and natural resources.

Too often, local communities, particularly women, are excluded from decision-making around the use of land where they live, with devastating impacts on basic human rights and the environment. Decision-making processes around land, housing and natural resources often rely on ‘hard evidence’ developed by powerful actors such as states and corporations, rather than reflecting communities’ perspectives and priorities.

At ESCR-Net, we believe that grassroots groups and communities are the legitimate voice and the main experts regarding the issues that affect them such as inequality, impoverishment and injustice. For this reason in June 2020, with the leadership of an Advisory Group of ESCR-Net members, we launched our first project to support grassroots groups, particularly women leaders, in developing research goals, methodologies and tools, undertaking field research, analyzing the data and planning advocacy strategies and outputs.

Workshops

resources on community-led research

Over the course of the project we held several online exchanges to share our members’ experiences in developing and implementing community-led research. In this section you will find resources and tools used to support the development and implementation of research projects. Some of these resources were developed collaboratively by the advisory group of this project, while others have been made available by individual members. Watch this space for upcoming resources!
