The Center for Spacial Justice (Mekanda Adalet Derneği – MAD in Turkish) is a non-profit organization working for more democratic, ecological, participatory, and just urban and rural spaces. Embracing a trans-disciplinary approach, MAD produces, accumulates, and shares knowledge on spatial issues that is innovative, solution-based, and open-to-public. For this purpose, they have 3 programmes: Urban Policies Programme, Environmental Justice Programme, and Academy Programme. Supported by a team of creators (video-production, graphic design, storytelling) and legal studies and advocacy, each programme aims not only to produce knowledge in their own fields but also to enhance effective collaboration with relevant actors. MAD uses legal strategies for spatial, environmental and climate justice and corporate accountability.

One of their interesting projects is the Follow the River Project, through which they follow a water basin in Turkey, documenting the impacts of environmental degradation on the communities and working with them to amplify the solutions and promote alternative solutions. In doing so they are also connecting the environmental and climate crisis with the harmful practices of corporations.
