Social Movements

The Social Movement Working Group (SMWG) brings together the social movements who make up ESCR-Net from across regions, representing Indigenous and Afro-Descendant Peoples, peasants, feminists, trade unionists, along with other politically organized communities. Together they share hard-won lessons of struggle and resistance, build solidarity, and deepen collective analysis.

The SMWG drafted and then updated the Common Charter, connecting their struggles via analysis of the common global conditions facing their communities, as well as articulating points of unity. Fellow members have affirmed the Charter, informing ESCR-Net’s overall strategy and encouraging new forms of advocacy and campaigning.
