The Uganda Consortium on Corporate Accountability (UCCA) is  a 25-member civil society coalition dedicated to promoting corporate accountability, social justice, and human rights in Uganda. The Consortium works towards ensuring that businesses operate responsibly, respect human rights, and are held accountable for any negative social and environmental impacts they cause. UCCA primarily focuses on strengthening corporate accountability frameworks, advocating for policies that promote business and human rights, and ensuring that Uganda’s economic growth aligns with social justice and environmental sustainability. It does this through legal and policy advocacy, strategic litigation, political education, community empowerment, and research and documentation.  It played a key role in shaping Uganda’s corporate accountability landscape, using different strategies, including influencing policy discussions on business and human rights, contributing to the formulation of Uganda’s National Action Plan on BHR, providing legal support to communities affected by corporate human rights abuses, enhancing public awareness through training, media engagement, and community dialogues, and holding businesses accountable through strategic litigation and advocacy campaigns.
