Botswana Khwedom Council

The Botswana Khwedom Council is a social movement of the San people of Botswana working to secure economic, political and social justice through human rights advocacy. They do so by helping different San communities to establish and register their own community-based organizations, building their capacity for movement building and organizational development and to advocate for their rights, such as their cultural rights in terms of language teaching and chieftainship, but also with regards to establishment of an affirmative action framework for indigenous people with regards to their rights to work, education, and a good living standard. The board of the Botswana Khwedom Council is made up of members from the indigenous San communities, who in turn report back to their respective communities. Each board member is responsible for a thematic area of work.
