The Monitoring Working Group seeks to promote a rights-based approach to data that recognizes, on one hand, the legitimacy and centrality of communities’ knowledge and perspectives grounded in lived experiences and, on the other hand, the obligations of states to gather accurate and comprehensive data on ESCR, taking into account community-based knowledge.
