Plataforma DESC España

Created in 2016 and based in Spain, the ESCR Platform is a space of Spanish civil society that gathers social entities, human rights organizations, organizations of cooperation for development, environmental organizations and trade unions that work together on following up the enforcement of recommendations to the Spanish State from the European Council and the United Nations. The Platform also coordinates the Parliamentary Intergroup created inside the Deputies Congress of Spain in 2018.

The Platform carries out advocacy, training, monitoring, documentation, research and public awareness on three main issues: justiciability of the international human rights law in domestic law, fostering the principle of non-regression on policies and prioritizing vulnerability on policy making.

In addition to the creation of the Parliamentary Intergroup in 2018, the Platform also drafted the alternative report of the situation in Spain before the United Nations Committee of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. The Parliamentary Intergroup is currently analyzing the possibility of reforming the Treaties Law to include the Human Rights Treaties and Conventions on Spain’s domestic legal framework.
