SAPCONE – Turkana People Organization

SAPCONE's mission is to promote community participation in realization of good governance, peaceful co-existence and an economically viable society that is able to sustain itself with minimal external support through adoption of relevant skills and technologies.

In partnership with allies in Kenya, SAPCONE has been spearheading and advocating for the people-driven budget process in Kenya, lobbying for the adoption of the new Constitution (especially the inclusion of economic, social and cultural rights) and networking with community groups in Southern Sudan, Ethiopia and Uganda.

SAPCONE has also coordinated trainings on issues including governance, resource mobilization, media advocacy, communication and a human-rights based approach to development, lobbied for the adoption of Kenya's National Land Policy and led campaigns in Turkana to raise awareness on housing rights and prevent forced evictions, as well as monitoring the use of public funds.
