The vision of the Centre for the Sustainable use of Natural and Social Resources (CSNR) is a just and environmentally rich society, composed of sustainability, socio-cultural harmony, and empowered communities with informed, dignified, and mutually respectful individuals.

Beginning with work extending humanitarian assistance during post 1999 super-cyclone in Jagatsingpur and Jajpur districts of Odisha, India, and its work campaigning for peace and communal harmony in Kandhamal district following the communal CSNR’s mission is to facilitate efforts by marginalized and vulnerable sections of society (including Adivasis, Dalits, and Cultural Minorities).  They strive to strengthen themselves with their rights and entitlements; protect their own culture and identity; enjoy sustainable livelihood with environmental upgrading; maintain empowered and functional community institutions and promote gender sensitivity, self-governance and peace among people.
