Mary Ann Bayang has been working on Indigenous Peoples rights, land rights, environment, social and cultural rights, doing research, conducting capacity building and awareness raising, legal and policy advocacy, alliance building and networking. Most of these were done in the last 8 years on an international level with different organizations including Indigenous Peoples Rights International, Tebtebba Foundation/UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness, ESCR-Net, ALLIED Network and the Zero Tolerance Initiative, among others. Prior to these, she worked at the national level doing similar work, focusing on Indigenous Peoples, human rights, and environment defenders to address the continuing threats on their lives and fundamental freedoms, advocating for environmental protection against destructive projects and launching relevant campaigns, and also doing advocacy for legislative and policy reforms.
