On behalf of Ogiek Peoples' Development Programme (OPDP), Minority Rights Group International (MRG) and the Centre for Minority Rights (CEMIRIDE) inform that the hearing against the Government of Kenya at the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights related to the Ogiek community has been scheduled. The case, originally scheduled to be heard on 13 and 14 March, 2014 in Arusha, Tanzania, will now be heard in June 2014.

Minority Rights Group International (MRG) and Endorois Welfare Council (EWC) condemns the use of excessive force by the Kenyan police against the Endorois community in the Mochongoi Forest, Marigat, Baringo County.

On 4 January, 2014, the ESCR-Net publication, Land in the Struggle for Justice: Social Movement Strategies to Secure Human Rightswas launched in Ogoniland, Nigeria. Thousands of Ogoni people, led by  the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP), mobilized to mark this year's International Human Rights Day (December 10, 2013) with a peaceful protest against the Federal Government of Nigeria over its denial of the Ogoni people's right to clean and safe environment thus compromising her right to life amongst others. 

Over ten thousand Ogonis including MOSOP activists marched on Bori, the Ogoni ancestral capital to commemorate the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples  and protest the failure of the Nigerian Government to implement the UNEP environmental assessment report on Ogoni two years after its official release. 

In 2010, the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights issued unprecedented recommendations on the Endorois case, including restitution of their ancestral land, compensation for all the loss suffered, and royalties for existing economic activities on their land...

ProDESC (Proyecto de Derechos Económicos, Sociales y Culturales), and their partners, the Ejido La Platosa and the union of mineworkers Los Mineros, have achieved a significant victory with the recent recent decision by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) to divest its entire holdings in Excellon Resources Inc.

On July 3, 2013, ESCR-Net and the International Human Rights Clinic of New York University's School of Law sent a letter to the Cheif Minister of Odisha, India, calling for the suspension of the POSCO-India project unless and until human rights are respected and upheld.
