As a Palestinian Civil Society Organization, Bisan Center for Research and Development aligns itself with the poor and marginalized in the Palestinian society, by working to support their struggle in advancing their socio- economic rights in the context of national liberation, through the production and application of critical development knowledge and the building of partnerships with progressive bodies and entities.

Through conventions, focus groups and research, Bisan offers a critical view of development than that presented by the Palestinian Authority. By criticizing governmental corruption in management and distribution of resources, the center presents an alternative development model, which prioritizes production, investment, and natural resources over consumption and liberal economic policies. Bisan also works on the right to health and seeks to build a network of youth aware of their economic and social rights in general, and in their health rights and its determinants in particular, as well as increasing youth representation in the Palestinian Social Movement in Gaza, West Bank, and Jerusalem to defend health rights. The program works in partnership with more than 28 Community Based Organizations (CBOs). Bisan is also working on the right to food, and it adopts and promotes agroecology and food sovereignty as a people centered approach to development. The center also believes in Environmental justice and has produced research and done awareness raising activities on Global Warming, land grabbing, pesticides, and extractive industries.
