The Centro Mexicano de Derecho Ambiental strives to promote the right to a healthy environment, as well defending this right through the development and effective fulfillment of legislation and public policies.
CEMDA was founded in 1993, during the ratification and entry into force of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with the United States and Canada, at the initiative of a group of Mexican lawyers interested in the development, effective application, and improvement of environmental law as an effective measure to protect the environment and natural resources of Mexico.
CEMDA works in rural as well as urban areas, at the local, municipal, state, national, and international level. We have regional offices in five areas of Mexico.
