FASE’s mission is to contribute to the construction of a democratic society that actively promotes alternatives to today’s predominant development model, with environmental justice and universal social, economic, cultural, environmental, civil and political rights as a starting point to achieve the inclusion of that large sector of Brazil’s population that is still subject to conditions of inequity, poverty and discrimination.
It promotes the creation of a political field that is critical of the dominant approach to development, as a contribution to the collective dispute for a Brazil based on substantive democracy and socio-economic sustainability. They believe that the social and political mobilization of Brazilian society is a necessary condition and means to achieve stronger human rights, a new agenda with alternatives to the development model, and public policies, through new forms of social control and social participation, to change the lives of the majority of the population.
