The mission of the Ogiek Peoples’ Development Program (OPDP) is to promote and protect the cultural, socio-economic, political, environmental and collective rights for sustainable development of the minority and indigenous Ogiek community.
The OPDP’s vision endeavors to create an environment of tranquility upon which human life and nature prospers for posterity. The OPDP’s objectives are to lobby and advocate for Ogiek issues at all levels (i.e. local, national, regional and international); coordinate learning and sharing of knowledge, skills and experiences between and among organizations and stakeholders fighting for the rights of marginalized communities; and enhance gender equity/parity in all aspects of Ogiek community development.
