Plataforma de Afectados por la Hipoteca is a social movement working to promote housing rights. La PAH was created in 2009 and brings together people directly affected by housing issues and allies nationally. Among the objectives that la PAH pursues is the creation of a Housing Law that puts housing rights above the financial interests of investors. Spain has seen a dramatic rise in evictions since the financial crisis of 2008 and la PAH carries out activism to stop evictions and promote access to public housing in the face of empty properties.
La PAH carries out its work through a variety of tactics such as advocacy, legal actions, media and direct actions such as sit-ins. La PAH is a democratic movement not affiliated with any political party. Decisions are made in assemblies.
