Viluthu is a feminist organization that was founded in 2003 with a mission to promote peace and equality and advance sustainable economics through local communities. It has played an instrumental role in the promotion of minority rights and rights of the communities affected by conflict and war. This includes the promotion of ESCR for women. Other issues they work on includes  women in governance and leadership addressing social and cultural hurdles for women, policy and practice reform in service, opportunity and resource access for marginalized communities and addressing all forms of violence against women. Viluthu was the first organization in South Asia to mobilize women heads of households into a formal network for policy recommendation. Another example of their work  is their campaign on dignified menstruation in Sri Lanka advocating for equitable menstruation and challenging state discrimination.
