Association for Law and Advocacy for Pastoralists (ALAPA) is a non-profit organization providing legal assistance and protecting human rights of pastoralists (traditional cattle herders) and hunter gatherers in Tanzania. ALAPA’s visions is “A society that strives for economic development while respecting and promoting fundamental rights and freedoms.” Its mission is to advocate for, and promote respect for the economic, social and cultural rights (ESCR), civil and political rights (CPR) and the collective rights of pastoralists and hunter gatherers in their pursuit of economic development. ALAPA seeks to achieve its mission and vision by advocating conformity to observance of human rights, conservation of the environment, implementation of democracy, and adherence to good governance practices.
