During this year’s 47th session of the Human Rights Council, the following members Mihir Mankad(Center for Economic and Social Rights), Debbi Stothard (ALTSEAN-Burma), and Allana Kembabazi (Initiative for Social and Economic Rights) delivered formal interventions on behalf of ESCR-Net.

In their interventions, members urged States to comply with their duties to provide just equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines through international cooperation and support for the TRIPS waiver. Members also called for corporate accountability beyond the voluntary United Nations Guiding Principles and urged States to support a strong international legally binding instrument to regulate corporate power and hold corporate actors accountable for their infringement upon human rights

Mihir Mankad's intervention during the #HRC47 for @srpoverty stated on behalf of our members, the urgent need for States to cooperate and create just and equitable access to #covid19 vaccines.
Debbi Stothard disagreed with the voluntary nature of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. According to her, If given the option to protect human rights or not, most States lack the political will to do so & opt-out..
Allana Kembabazi requests 1) public responses on human rights compliance by States & business blocking COVID19 vaccine & treatment waivers at WTO; 2) end to corporate impunity via binding international instruments
