Alliance for Rural Democracy

The Alliance for Rural Democracy (ARD) is Social Movement based in Liberia made up of slum and squatters communities, pro-poor enterprising informal sector organizations  and newly emerging and independent labor unions, as well as community based organizations across the country.  It was established through a program known as Community Rights Initiative program implemented by Green Advocates that engaged communities affected by companies particularly rubber plantation, oil plantation, mining and logging companies affecting communities’ rights. ARD liaises with Green Advocates to provide pro bono legal services to communities facing land grabs and violations and other cross cutting issues in Liberia. Also work with trade unions to modify campaign strategies.
