Habi Center for Environmental Rights lodged an appeal at the Egyptian Administrative Court last week demanding information on the environmental impact of cement companies using coal. The appeal was filed against the Prime Minister, in his capacity as Minister of State for Environmental Affairs and as the head of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), in addition to the heads of Lafarge Cement Company and the Suez Cement Group.
This step comes after a series of communication sent by Habi Center to the relevant authorities and aforementioned companies. In its last communication, Habi warned that if it was not to receive the information needed, it will go to court.
