EIPR’s new report reveals impact of increasing electricity prices on the poor in Egypt

The Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR) published a study this week that points out how the increase in electricity prices in Egypt affects the poor and people with low-income. The report is published at the same time as the minister of electricity has announced the necessity of increasing electricity prices another time during this fiscal year, only 6 months after a previous increase.

The report, entitled “Electricity Facts for the year 2016/2017”, ends with several recommendations regarding the development of a just electricity policy.
