ESCR-Net congratulates the members and allies who have advocated for and offered inputs into the General Recommendation No. 34 on the rights of rural women, which was recently published by the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
In its General Reccomendation, the United Nations urges States to respect rights of rural women and girls and to recognize their vital role in development and poverty reduction.
Several ESCR-Net members, including Global Initiative for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (GI-ESCR) and FIAN International, have advocated for this Recommendation.
