A human rights assessment of development-induced displacement and options for collaborative responses

Between April and August of 2011, ESCR-Net carried out an extensive mapping exercise to (1) identify and describe the broad range of civil society actors working on the issue and the way they approaching work on DID; (2) discuss the central challenges and opportunities for advocacy; (3) explore emerging opportunities for employing a human rights perspective to challenge DID; (4) highlight the main needs faced by affected communities, and (5) identify some areas whereby ESCR-Net could play a valuable role as well as recommendations for the future direction of the project. The mapping methodology consisted of 44 interviews and extensive desk research. The Mapping Report and Background Document was finalized in September, 2011.
