Wal-Mart, the largest grocery retailer in the United States, joined the Coalition of Immokalee Workers’ Fair Food Program, forever changing the landscape of social responsibility in the food industry. Wal-Mart representatives and leaders from the Coalition of Immokalee Workers sent an unmistakable message: human rights will be the new norm in U.S. agriculture.

Over ten thousand Ogonis including MOSOP activists marched on Bori, the Ogoni ancestral capital to commemorate the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples  and protest the failure of the Nigerian Government to implement the UNEP environmental assessment report on Ogoni two years after its official release.
